Seresto: Out of this World Protection Campaign

Seresto, the flea & tick control collar, made the move away from being a veterinary product and consequently was being made available through retail outlets e.g. PetsAtHome. However, not enough pet owners knew what Seresto was, and therefore it wasn’t even part of their consideration process. Elanco needed a stand-out creative that would raise brand awareness of this innovative product.

My idea took the animals from the existing global creative and used them in a new way. The objective was to interrupt the shopper journey and grab the customer’s attention, so they realised a better alternative existed to what they currently used. Seresto has a 7-8 month duration of protection – its strongest USP. I identified the fact that a journey to Mars from Earth also takes 7-8 months, and hence my Mars Campaign was born. I created a product story that used the journey to Mars as an innovative way of conveying all of the key benefits of Seresto, playing into its innovative hi-tech heritage.

I created an engaging OLV, using the sci-fi genre and activated the campaign in retail via POS and digitally across social media & display advertising, as well as in the consumer press.

Felpreva: Breakthrough Parasite Protection Campaign

Vets have more choice than ever in terms of cat parasite treatment, regimen and format. This leads to complexity, confusion and category apathy. For owners, parasite protection is challenging when cats are resistant to product administration – negatively affecting the human-animal bond. Enter Felpreva, as an unrivalled response to these woes.

The creative brought this concept to life in the form of a powerful story that described the complexity of the vet’s decision-making process – depicted as a maze. The vet encounters a cat in the maze, who leads her down various pathways and decision points (always in the right direction), to an unexpected conclusion where the cat breaks through the wall of the maze into a new world where both cat and pet owner are healthy and enjoying life together – all thanks to the benefits provided by Felpreva.

The advertising depicts the moment the cat breaks through the wall, creating a striking and stand out visual that boldly announces that Felpreva is a breakthrough in parasite protection. Three variations of the launch ads were produced showing the cat breaking through the wall of the maze of complexity (as shown in the campaign video that tells the whole story).

Felpreva Branding

The parasiticide market is crowded and competitive with a lot of big players. Felpreva is a new entrant and challenger in this space – but poised to make a huge impact so needed a brand to represent this.

Felpreva is a new state-of-the-art parasiticide with a unique combination of active ingredients, specifically developed for cats, that kill many of the most critical parasites including fleas, ticks, and worms. Uniquely, it also covers tapeworm. Combined with a convenient three-monthly dosage and spot-on format, Felpreva is innovative, unique, and exactly the type of parasiticide the market has been seeking for a long time.

When a cat is relaxed and happy, it curls up on the lap of their owner. With this is mind, this logo captures that idea with the cats ear by the ‘F’ and the sweep of the cats tail underneath. This captures that image in a simple and elegant way that works with the type. This allows it to portray the brands essence in just the logo itself, while also showing that human and cat bond which the product is trying to create. It also indicates it for the use on cats with the feline feel.

Hemicell: Don't Feed the Problem Campaign

β-mannans are non-nutritive feed compounds, found in vegetable feed. Their presence consumes about 3% of the total energy available to animals from that feed – energy that could be directed towards growth/performance. The problem with poultry/pig production stakeholders is they aren’t seeing there’s a problem with β -Mannans in their feed, which means – they’re feeding a problem which is costing them on multiple fronts.

I sought educate them on β-mannans and then position Hemicell as the solution. I explained this in simple language, so they saw that by not dealing with it – they were losing out in big way. In short, I wanted to tell them… ‘Don’t feed the problem’. Creatively, I used a bold and different way to do this with typography – something that really stood out from the typical ‘chicken shot’ in the poultry press.

The campaign covered an internal re-launch of the product to get the sales team re-energised, followed by an unbranded β-mannans campaign that educated the market on the problem ß-Mannans. The final part of the activity was a Hemicell campaign to increase brand awareness of Hemicell as the ONLY possible answer, in a way that was straightforward and not too technical.

There are three individual shows that are part of one portfolio and happen on the same day in the same venue, Olympia, London.
